Hobgoblins - Unlike their smaller cousins, goblins, hobgoblins are uncommon in Telluran and have not adapted well to the challenges of living in a metropolis. Many rarely venture to the above-ground portions of the city. They can be found throughout Rom and the Archeton Ways. - Hobgoblin religion includes a considerable amount of ancestor-worship. The presence of ghosts in Telluran only serves to confirm their traditions regarding the influence of living ancestors on the world and society. (Is there a god of death / the afterlife / etc? If so, that is likely a popular one with them) - More citified Hobgoblins are commonly warlocks (particularly with the Vestige and Star pacts), rogues, or members of leader classes, particularly bard and warlord. Some few remain loyal to their ancestral traditions and the primal power source.
Karos - Karos was born in the goblin tunnels of the Rom district and eked out a life as a street-urchin. - Karos’ early education, such as it was, came largely at the foot of a slightly-demented goblin street preacher named Lazlo who made his home in the shallower portion of Archeton. Lacking most goblins’ aptitude for tinkering, Lazlo had instead studied the history and rituals of various races. He was always pleased to trade stories or shelter for food and coin. Unlike many of his peers, Karos found the wizened old goblin fascinating, and spent a great deal of time with him. - Later, Karos became involved in the various underground “gladiator games” to be found throughout Telluran. After one early defeat, he retreated into Archeton in search of his mentor only to find himself lost. He emerged bearing a wooden mask with the features of a corpse and with the conviction that he’d spoken to his ancestors. He proceeded to wear the mask in his next several bouts, winning all of them, which attracted the attention of a member of Lady Isoria’s retinue. - Was then enrolled in a gladiators’ school favored by the High Lords for training their representatives for the games in the Arena Bells.
